Art Deco French White bakelite desk alarm clock


Mid Century “Jazz” Alarm Clock from France, in White Bakelite with aged, Gilt trim. The Model is “Baric” and all in excellent working condition, has an aged, patina including the Dial, but no damage. The face has Deco influenced Arabic numerals with Illuminous spots at every 5 minutes, plus black central stripes along centre of Hour and Minute hands, and black batons every second. Below the Noon position is the Alarm Dial, again with black Arabic numerals for each Hour with minutes divided also. Below the centre is “JAZ” with the bird insignia Trademark, and below the 6 is “MADE IN FRANCE”, and the opposite side, “JAZ-SA-PARIS”. The rear has all the controls for setting Alarm, the “Stop” alarm lever at centre, top; Setting Time, winding Time and Alarm plus Speed adjustment lever; Imprinted, all items are named, plus difficult to see, the Company Insignia above “MADE IN FRANCE” all imprinted, and towards the bottom, below the speed adjustment; plus to the centre Left is imprinted “Modelle Depose” above “Brevette S.G.D.E”, also difficult to see. Neatly scratched to the underside Bakelite is “IE 659”, probably a jeweller’s Service reference mark. Dimensions approx..: 16cm wide x 5cm deep x 12cm high. France. Circa 1953.
