Art Deco French Aneroid Barometer with a Carved Seagull flying over Waves The Barometer is French made by as shown in the lower front Dial, CM (of France), and Precision Guarantie, all below the 71 mark. The Company was started by Mon. Chevallier in the second half of the 19th Century, later by Pierre Louis Amédée Queslin, (1819-1883). He and his successors called their shop “Maison de Chevallier”, hence MC.. The Barometer is apparently working as it should and retains the red pointer that you position at current pressure, and later the change of pressure can be seen from the Gunmetal Blue inner Arrow change. The Barometer can be adjusted gently, to suit changes in elevation via a small screw accessed from the rear. Dimensions approx.: 35cm wide x 18cm high x 7cm deep; Barometer face diameter 7cm. France. Circa 1920’s.
