French Art Deco Butter, Cheese, Biscuit Dish


Art Deco French Biscuit or Butter Dish and separate mirrored Tray. Dish of rippled glass, and tray with mirror made of spun Aluminium. Both items have wooded, curved polished handles. This piece has intricate, matching details such as the rippled glass sides being simulated to the spun Aluminium Lid and circular edge of the mirrored tray below. The tray has a timber body resting on 3 chromed studs that lifts the try off the surface for more insulation. Both pieces can be used separately if desired. The tray still has the original black and Gilt paper Company sticker to the base, which reads as follows “S. Gonthiez” in black script, over “bijoulier”, over “DENAIN (Nord.)” (French Province, North). Dimensions are approx..: Covered Glass bowl 10cm high x 17cm dia.; Tray 19.5cm outer tray x 2cm high; 15.5cm exposed mirror; 24cm across handles. Condition is excellent for age, with a short scratch and a couple of spots to mirror; a soft patina to all the other areas with minor polish loss to timber, but no damage to mention; Aluminium lid has had a drop and has a very small flat era to an edge, otherwise just aged patina from gentle use and no other damage to report at al; glass all excellent with no cracks or chips.
