Art Deco WMF Pansies Teapot

Art Deco German Teapot, WMF Pansy Pattern on Porcelain, with Chrome to lid and surround, lid grip in form of Beehive, with the Hive mark and “WMF” within, impressed to edge below the Lid Hinge. The Porcelain base is marked faintly, in blue ”Dec. 2194” being the decoration or design number, plus subscript “B”. WMF Group (formerly known as “Württembergische Metallwaren Fabrik”) is a German tableware manufacturer, founded in 1853. The pansy pattern is simple but intensely eye-catching, and possibly one of the best and most beautiful of all the WMF porcelain flower designs. This piece has the typical fine geometric crazing to the interior for nearly all of this porcelain and age. The chrome is also in very good condition, with aged patina as shown in the highly magnified WMF Beehive Mark, but barely noticeable in real life, unless magnified and searched for. Other than the internal crazing, all the external porcelain is immaculate, with no chips, no cracks or restoration; (even the crazing can usually be nearly totally eliminated with bleaches, etc., but may return later subject to dampness). Dimensions are approx.. : 23.5cm spout to outer handle; height 15cm to chrome knob; pot cylinder 12cm dia.. Please refer to the matching Coaster and Sugar or Jam Pot if still availab;le. Germany. Circa 1930’s.
