Art Deco Bakelite Watch by De Vecchi

Art Deco Cream Yellow Bakelite watch, by “De Vecchi” with a “17 Jewel”  movement, as marked to the black metal face, with white hands and Arabic numerals, with a touch of Nouveau influence with “curls” to ends of numerals, for the 3, 6. 9 and 12, with batons for  numeral spaces in between. “De Vecchi” of Italian origin also made Bakelite Mantle Clocks and Harlequin, Clutch, cased watches. All In excellent condition that can only be described as near mint with the slightly raised “crystal” and Face, both crisp and clear with no deterioration or marks at all. This soft colour is one of the best in the Art Deco Bakelite, and the band is excellent, snaps shut, and is also unmarked. The Hinge has some minor chrome loss off the quality brass spring hinge, but no corrosion; the 4 screw pins are tight and the spring is excellent. Keeps good time, considering it was a “dress” watch, but probably a Swiss movement. The gilt to the Crown is also as new. Dimensions are approx..: Band width is 3cm at front, to 2.3cm at rear x 1cm thick at front to 0.8cm thick at rear; the wrist area is elliptical, 5.8cm x 4.6cm, and the Clasp opens 5cm clear. U.S.A.  Circa 1930s.
